What is CWB Language Collective?

Culture Without Borders (CWB) language collective is a community school for world languages. We teach English and Spanish through friendship, online and in person in the NYC area. We think learning should be fun and economic activity should be fair. We believe every person has things to learn and things to teach, and that there’s no tool better than friendship for learning a new language.

What programs do you offer?

Right now we offer the following programs:

• 💻🗣️✍️ - Wednesday Group for English Practice - A friendly, no-cost weekly English practice meeting. Join us for different topics each week.

• 💻👂🎶🗣️- Conversaciones Sonoras: Bilingual Conversation Club - A structured, 12-week program for English and Spanish learners. Come together on Zoom to chat bilingually, help others learn your language, and loose your fear of speaking.

• 🌆 ❄️ 🍂🌱☀️- In-Person Events, NYC Area - We get speakers of English, Spanish, and other languages together to do fun stuff together and make new friends across primary languages. Join us for English and Spanish practice in a welcoming, low-stakes, low-stress, environment.

I’m nervous to speak my second+ language. What can I expect?

We know communicating in a non-native or second+ language can be very intimidating and scary but we strive to make each event and each class informal, friendly, casual and comfortable for all.

What is tiered pricing, and how does it work?

Tiered pricing is a way to make our programs more financially accessible. For a course or event with tiered pricing, we establish a base price, and we offer payment tiers above and below the base price. If you’re in a position to do so, you can lower the price of participation for others by paying more yourself. All participants in a given program receive the same content and attention from the facilitator-instructor, regardless of their payment tier. We don’t establish top-down rules or guidelines for payment tiers, we simply ask that those who have more pay more. Please evaluate your financial situation and choose the payment tier that makes the most sense for you.
